[hatch log] a swiftly tilting station
CHARACTERS: Zhukov, Chuuya & EVERYONE ONE
WHERE: The Station
WHEN: DAY :005
SUMMARY: Somewhere far away from Concordia, new minds gain awareness.
WARNINGS: Will update as necessary.

YOU WAKE UP you will never be the person you were a moment ago. --No. Scratch that. It's been a while, hasn't it? Something feels off - a combination of the strange and familiar right there in your own head - and you know intuitively that you've been unconscious for more than just a blink of the eye. It’s impossible to tell exactly how long or how exactly you escaped the danger that had been breathing down your neck, but you know it wasn't a moment ago.
But here you are, a small miracle of the multiverse: lying in a small faintly hexagonal chamber, a gentle white light emanating from the surrounding walls. If you were injured during your escape, those injuries have been healed. If you were anxious or frightened or distraught, those feelings have been briefly calmed. There's something strangely peaceful about waking up here. That feeling persists even as you find the tube running from the base of your neck to the compartment's rear wall.
However, things get loud when the tube is disconnected. A wave of emotion fills that peaceful void. Fear, uncertainty, relief, a sense of purpose or loneliness or anxiety - maybe some of these emotions are yours, but they can't all be. After the initial sensory overload, the mental buzz elongates: stretches out into a murmur like the sound of a party behind a closed door.
You can sit up - barely -, and shift out of the pod. There’s a ladder at your feet and a little cubby just before it with anything you brought with you, as well as a set of crisp, loose-fitting white clothes; while your injuries are healed, whatever you’re wearing is in the exact state it was before. Drop down the ladder to the floor of the Nesting Deck and you’ll find you’re not alone - and that those sounds in your head are louder. The two of you who have hatched today are intimately joined in some way. The sense of familiarity runs so deep between you it might as well be cellular.
Welcome to Station 72. It buzzes with activity - a pulse of life that beats beyond the place and outside of just the two of you. Somewhere deep in the Station, other minds call to yours. They are bright, shining spots in your subconscious. Some of these are gentle and some of them burn, but you know for certain that you are connected to all of them in some small way.

((OOC Notes: This is the hatch log for the two hosts and anyone looking to greet them after their hatching. You’re welcome to make your own logs separate to this going forward!
Additionally, you can find a more detailed overview of the hatching process HERE. You can find additional setting information about the Station HERE If you have any questions, please hit up either the FAQ or MOD CONTACT pages!))

AROUND
Of course, then his attention is caught more by the fact that the guy's got his hand shoved in the toaster. For a moment he worries that he'd gotten stuck, somehow - after walking in on Shiro having blown up a microwave, anything seems possible - until that comment about heating is made. ]
...man, I will make you a fire myself if you promise not to touch anything in the kitchen again.
no subject
I would like that if there is nothing else.
[ Because the freezing feeling that is locked into him that heaves out of his words, reaches out with them, grasping at the warmest thing inside of Sam's limbs to take it as his own.
Or so the void would urge. ]
no subject
Coupled with the way a chill washes over Sam with the guy's words, that Sam can feel it pushing at him, trying to draw him in - yeah, this is definitely a thing. ]
Is this some kind of hypothermia thing or are we looking at something that's not gonna be solved as easy?
no subject
It is the price I pay for my freedom. I ... stretched myself thin over a wasteland of ice.
[ He is burning from the inside and shattered in reflections. ]
Now, I am always cold.
[ So... no, not solved easily. ] It is in truth why I favour these garments. Not just to spare others my... appearance.
no subject
And a hell of a lot of curiosity, about exactly what all that means. He moves to pull a kettle out of one of the cupboards, filling it with water and turning on the stove to heat it up. ]
Come hang out with me by the stove, all right? There's a hot water bottle in here and I'm pretty sure I saw a fire place in the library. [ There's a pause, then, ] And you don't gotta answer any of my questions if you don't want to, but damn, that's a hell of a price.
no subject
It was. Most prefer to die, that is how severe the prison mines of Utyrka are. Indeed, if you were of my home, you would say it was impossible that I ever escaped.
no subject
yet, but he's appreciative of it anyway. The feel of that relief across their link makes him turn the other burners on, trying to give him a little more heat. ]What got you into prison?
no subject
Relief, save that his answer is toned something more... viciously disgruntled. ]
Politics.
