The sense of observing things he shouldn't have to, of watching carnage and listening to screams. No, she probably hasn't laughed very much in years.
He doesn't respond to it, not out loud. But there's a cautious happiness there, that he could make her laugh like that. Even if it was accidental and over something so silly, even if he found it embarrassing. Going back to the task at hand, he holds the datapad balanced on one knee and skims the first few lines. ]
