You might also consider speaking with Steve and Angel once you reach the planet. We believe they've been exploring mental blocks and they could be helpful to you.
[Good. Confidence is an admirable, a userful trait.
The question though-- that gives her a moment's pause. There's a faint flicker of surprise in the woman's strangely too-reflective eyes; she opens her mouth, then hesitates. Has anyone ever asked her this question before? She searches her memory. If they had, what answer had she given? What was the result--?
Best to start with the easy answer first.]
The symbiotes communicate telepathically with one another. It's part of their nature. Because they're integrated in our minds, our thoughts and feelings adapt to run along the same telepathic waves. Further, the symbiote's chemical and physical affects on the brain can trigger abilities in the host. We're not sure if they're abilities the host has and the symbiote merely allows them to use it, or if it's something coded into the symbiote themselves - or some combination of the two. Either way, neither host or symbiote can use the ability independently.
[As for why...]
From a mechanical standpoint, we don't know why. Something makes us physically compatible, but determining what that is has so far been impossible. From a moral one, we believe it's right for us to be hosts to the symbiote because they have no alternative and would go extinct without hosts to carry them. From a practical one-- [a shrug] the symbiote's presence in our minds is what enables us to live here safely. Living between realities isn't kind to most beings.
