[ Fatigue is the clearest sense that bleeds through when she opens the link, but it's not dwelled upon, just an old bedfellow grown familiar. In contrast, Misato tries her darndest to seem nothing but determined, confident, enthused. It's not a lie if she also believes it. ]

( Hey everyone. We've found a few things we can use to our advantage.

First, if you want to pander to the judges' preferences, you should go colorful, electric, violent, sexy and loud. It's no time to be shy. Miss Mystery hates forest green and wears shoes dipped in liquid metal. Saldo Saldo likes soft vore, shiny and over-the-top body modifs and, uhm, transformations, like ugly duckling turning into a swan stuff. Now Talius Rex loves exotic pets, the more human-like the better, exploit that, he also likes cute things and dressing them and himself up. You may have seen his pets around . . .

Sam has also found that the chips the competitors wear are tracking their vitals, location and they act as credit cards. We may be able to use this. I know we've got a few tech-savvy people out there.

Lastly, I've got some experience choreographing giant weapons, so talk to me if you want help with that.

[There's a burst of dry, incredulous amusement.]

( Yeah, worried isn't the word I'd use. )

[He really isn't bothered enough if they win or not for that.]

( But try this: you just listed off a bunch of things we can't do, and even if we can, we're talking about aliens. Are you gonna go ask them what they find sexy? How about cute? Or what about how violent is violent? )

[ Misato is inordinately pushy, a steamroller, a bull in a china shop, but she's thoughtful, contrary to popular belief. She takes his questions and weighs them in her mind. ]

( You've got a point there.

Sexy might be tough, different anatomies and all, but cute is apparently universal: fluff, sparkles, ribbons, pink, cats. Funny, huh? As for violence, I think soft vore covers it. I'd hate to imagine anyone wanting to go beyond that honestly. )

( Just because you'd hate to imagine it doesn't mean they won't. )

[There's a line of bitterness to that deeper than his usual manner. Rooted down deep by experience. But he doesn't linger over it.]

( But okay, cute is the multiuniversal. Do you really think everyone we've got signed up is going to pull off the sparkly pink cat look? )

[ Murphy talks sense, good ol' rational sense, which might just be the bane of Misato's existence despite her fervent rejection of anything mystical. But here she is, still banking on pure magical thinking. ]

( Look, there are a million ways this could go wrong and I'm not even counting "somebody's not in the mood to be cute." But we're here and we've got a job to do, so we're gonna find a way to make it work. )

[She sounds like Clarke. It's a sharp cut of familiarity, one that has a flare of wry amusement rise in his manner. But she isn't Clarke, and even if she were, that wouldn't stop him pointing out-]

[ Misato plays at being a Clarke to hide the fact that she is anything but when it comes to any sense of self-worth. But she has heard this argument before, time and again, from children no less. ]
