"Some." He's leery of being too specific - not because of her, but because they're out in the open and he doesn't know how good alien ears are. "We were all briefed on what was happening, and I read through the documents, did my homework." So he knows the mission, or at least the relevant lineaments. He knows about the Nest, and the Enemy, two words that still seem so detached despite the meaning they brought to his world before he agreed to leave.

"Wasn't much warning about the funeral, though." Making it a weird time to show up. "Can you tell me something? How did it— happen?" What risk is there, he's asking. Is this something that could just happen to any of them?
