DON'T BE RUDE

[ the thing is, he gets the backlash with no idea what it's a reaction to. feeling like he should have died, that things would be better if he died — it's background noise, and sometimes it spikes in volume, but most of the time it doesn't occur to him as a real thought. it's just there, worse than ever after both Miasma's bomb and the force that came for him in Hyperion, twice now that he came close. part of him is still on the inside of that airlock and waiting for the countdown to hit zero.

so he's not sure what set Bakugo off that badly, what he saw in Juno's head that was worth that kind of revulsion. it doesn't matter much, it could be anything; but it makes it hard to pinpoint what he's working with here. and he's not in much of a mood to sleuth this out. between the noise and the Theia, his head is splitting. ]

Really? [ the light tone of his voice is acidic, scathing in a way his plain anger wasn't. ] Because it sure looks the same from where I'm standing.

[ not the two of them — that's not a comparison he's making anywhere. it's that he sees this situation as equally hopeless for everyone in it, all of them dropped down a dark tunnel, and the ones that act like they're not at the bottom of a long fall are just fooling themselves, because if the number of them crawling out of these pods is any indication, somebody has been tossing people down the tunnel for a long goddamn while without much of a problem. same as it always was in Hyperion, to the point that the hollow cavity starting to open up in his chest aches a little. he doesn't know this place down to his bones, but the people are the same. the suckers and the optimists. the ones stupid enough to think they can actually do something about it, like this kid.

like him. christ, maybe he is comparing them. he hasn't been on his feet long enough to start standing his ground against whatever this place is, though, so Bakugo can keep that honour all to himself for now. ]

If you got better offer than the choice to watch a city burn or walk away from it, then I'd say it looks like you were ripped off.
