[The question catches him off step. Implies a whole different way of regarding events than Murphy has. Disappointment would require expectation of things being better in some way, and he never really has that. Maybe he'd been disappointed for a few seconds after he'd realised the Darkling was awake again, but it had fallen into resignation quickly enough. Things were what they were.

Ilde being awake again is what it is. Maybe he should be the opposite, pleased to see her, but really he's thinking more about how she'd started to suffocate on Concordia. How they already had one dead on this mission. Fresh meat he could be annoyed at, people green and fledgling dropped in this mess. An old friend - could he think of her as that? - was only weighted all the heavier in concern.]


You were asleep longer this time. [He answers, finally.] I just figured you were gone.

[And he'd gotten used to that. Good or bad.]
