[ The sound of his laughter does not go unheard. It's an all-too familiar tone, and the Darkling very nearly mimics it. There was no love lost between the Grisha and the world they sought to survive in. Even a common enemy would not be enough to coerce otkazat'sya to embrace what they feared most.

They were brought here on the grounds that they would have died otherwise. Now, it seems, they're to repay their saviors in some form or another and have been implanted with something that causes them to connect with one another. In the depths of his heart, he knows -- he'd never feel this way for this young man if it weren't for that presence within him. He'd never feel this way for anybody, ever again. ]


It's remarkable. How something so unnatural could make us feel like this is right.
