When she sets it back on the counter and raises the tray off of the top she reveals a perfect twisting spiral of cake with a gooey syrup having risen again to the top and an even dispersal of nuts.
She's pleased. It radiates off of her, easy and satisfied, even as she looks back to him with a smile.]
I think that would be a very thoughtless thing to do. [Despite her words she doesn't actually sound disappointed, and her thoughts are only slightly amused, cheery as she reaches across the counter to tap the tip of his nose. Like prodding a bear trap, perhaps.]
But later, perhaps, we can make another just for us.
