[ Asuka should let Kaji tug her away. There's no point to watching Misato lose herself in this. There's no point in going through any of these motions anymore. And a part of her is thrilled that Kaji actually has her by the end. Even if it's unimportant now, signifying nothing other than that Kaji wants to usher her away from this. The momentary break she sees in Misato's mask is viciously, horribly gratifying and she lingers, despite her her better sense, and she hears the music.
She watches Gildor go through the motions and exhaust himself. All for the sake of Ikari. All because Katsuragi refuses to drink the bitter cup of loss like the rest of them. She's clearly hoping for something - another miracle, like the one that rebirthed Shinji from his entry plug or brought Unit 01 back out of the depths. So even as Misato demands that Gildor try again, Asuka decides she's seen enough. She's turned from vindictiveness and a strange sort of concern for Ikari to a sense of discomfort. A vague feeling of nausea and disgust as she gets a glimpse at just how much Misato wants this to work. She allows Kaji to lead her. Doesn't kick up a fuss. But she does aim one more parting barb and she doesn't seem to care that it might make Gildor bleed a little as well. ]
