[ If it's not the right word, Joshua can't really think of a better one. Even Weissmann put it that way, when they last spoke. And yet, it doesn't feel like he can really call what he has "freedom," as long as that Stigma is still on his arm.

[A prickle of amusement, equal parts gratingly superior and self-deprecating. Wouldn't that be a luxury? or maybe You get used to it. Those are both fundamentally useless concepts though, except maybe for Lyr's own personal enjoyment. And if he's pretending to be useful, then stars: he might as well do his due diligence.]

( I hate sounding so opportunistic, but it's worth saying that staying planetside is more likely to provide you a direction in which to focus. It takes a very rare breed to find purpose in the in between. )
