It's just a misunderstanding
CHARACTERS: Kylo Ren, Ahsoka, and Mara Jade
WHERE: the Bearings roof
WHEN: now
SUMMARY: persuasive arguments 101
WARNINGS: NA will update as necessary
[He's there shortly after the mental request for assistance, long legs and even longer strides, through the stairwell rather than the lift to keep from being intercepted along the way. Ahsoka might have given him warning, but that doesn't translate to permission, not when the bottom line is that she intends to tear the lightsaber from his hands.
And likely return it to the desert scavenger that brought it here.
The door's snapped open, shut forcefully by his broad hands rather than waiting for the mechanism to finish. He needs Ahsoka's rage to subside, for her to yield rather than rushing in without thought. Which means every spare second - no matter how minor - matters.]
Are you ready?
[Asked from over his shoulder, palms still braced against cold metal.]

[So Mara is pushed back. It only takes a moment for her to see what's happening. Of course the girl is going for the throat. Vader's favorite tactic, ressurected. But that means Mara has an advantage, too.]
[Vader was always such a traditionalist. He despised blasters, refused to use them. Mara assumes that any apprentice of Vader's should feel the same. Mara, however, has no such compunctions. She still has her holdout blaster tucked safely under her sleeve.]
[She moves as quickly as she can, trying to keep the element of surprise. Mara flicks her wrist, and the blaster is in hand. The next second, she's fired two quick shots at the girl's legs. It's not enough to kill, just enough to wound, confuse. She hopes, even if the girl dodges, that she'll be distracted enough to halt her assault on Jacen.]

The pull on the symbiote is already beginning to slow her, forcing her to adjust her grip once she finds her stance again. Through the bond she shares with Ren, she can feel her lungs beginning to pull from the residual pain he gives off. But its not enough to keep her from speaking in a slightly winded tone:]
You're not the first one who's tried to kill me, and you won't be the last.
[The blaster does its job. Ahsoka can feel Ren struggling, so she takes the opportunity to turn on Mara instead. Fact of the matter is, she didn't come marching up here with the intent to kill anyone -- knock them out, maybe. But she wouldn't be able to do that until she dealt with the strange wildcard.
She points her saber toward the other woman.]
Are you with the First Order as well?

[She walks forward, saber down, not defending herself. The apprentice has been on the defense for so long, Mara wonders what will happen if she can keep her there.] But it'd be terrible to be maimed so young.
[That is, ultimately, the crux of the matter, isn't it? Mara doesn't intend to kill someone she's connected to, someone so young. But she is attacking an ally. Short of death, all bets are off.]
[...Mara remembers fighting Ilde, another she was connected to. Their bond can be used. Mara rushes forward, saber out, ready to parry and strike. While she does, she focuses on the horrible feeling of being electrocuted, her body seized by Force lightening, paralyzed and sent crashing across the room. She transmits that memory, as best as she can, through the mental bond she shares.]
[Of course, doing that, rushing forward, and attacking at a fair amount to balance all at once. She sends a general signal out, rather than focusing just on the girl in front of her. Hopefully Jacen doesn't get too much of the blast.]

But when the driving movement of Mara's attack shifts Ahsoka back onto her heels, Ren is there in an instant— cruelly committed to movement without hesitation or restraint— it isn't his saber he's bringing down over her, but his bare, outstretched hand, angled in towards the back of her neck in a bid at grabbing her and lifting her forcefully off the ground.]

[Its said through grit teeth, frustrated and annoyed more than actually offended. It wasn't cute when she had been but fourteen years of age, and it certainly wasn't cute now that she was just over seventeen. Part of her thinks she'll hear it until she's well into adulthood, right until her montrals reach their full length.
Buncha racists.
She's used to people who like to brag about themselves -- even the petty thieves and mercenaries liked to pretend they were somebody in the galaxy. The fact that Mara refuses to submit any information is easily the most frustrating part of this so far. If she was allied with Ren, it didn't explain how she carried a pure kyber crystal in her saber--
But she doesn't have time to ponder it. Ahsoka brings her saber up skillfully, exhaling through her nose in preparation to dodge and strike enough so this woman stops her interference, but ultimately, she never gets the chance to pay her back. The sensation of electrocution is an excruciatingly familiar one -- it had been the only way to control a Jedi, when you were a Separatist or a droid. Her body locks instinctively, eyes wide in spite of the fact that she recognizes that there is no lighting flying at her. Her blood tingles, her knees get weak, and she stumbles briefly.
Its a clever tactic, not one that she would appreciate until much later in her life. Her dodge attack is forced to become a dodge and a parry that aggravates the burn on her arm further.
Ren descends and picks her up by the neck, and she instinctively kicks backward to try and break free, finding that his arms are too long for her to reach anything solid. It only takes a second of struggling for her to realize that she's wasting her energy, and she stops instead, hanging with a slightly constricted windpipe and a seething in her gut.
She deactivates her lightsaber then, focusing instead on breathing evenly rather than betray her anger to either of them. Bitterly, she stays quiet, and keeps her eyes on Mara while simultaneously bracing herself for the inevitable drop the taller man will provide her.]

[Briefly, Mara considers taking the girl's lightsabers, but it would serve no point. It would just make her come back for more. It's what Mara would do, anyway. She can appreciate stubbornness.]
[Slowly, almost gently, she reaches up to put her hand on Kylo Ren's wrist.] Stop this. It's over.

In any amount.
So that grim expression tilts downwards towards Mara's fingers across his wrist, already deactivating his saber with the hand that's been left purposefully free. If ever there was a wordless demand to be released, this is his closest attempt at conveying it.]
(Yes. It is.) [Perhaps she'll look back on this in shame. More likely, he imagines she'll think it justified, if not unsuccessful. Either way, he intends to make a point.]
(I knew he gave his saber to you. I -let- you keep it.) [Predictably, that gesture of goodwill is revoked as Ren reaches forward to tear it from her fingertips. Unkindly, painfully, if necessary. He isn't in the mood for anything else.] (But if you're so committed to hunting for what you already possess, fine.)
[His hold on her slackens; she drops to her heels in the second it takes him to throw Anakin's gift over the edge of the Bearings' roof without so much as a second thought.]

No, he will throw it off the rooftop, and she's forced to let it fall. Perhaps a kinder option that others that were available to him. She has no reason to be ashamed of a defeat against two Force sensitives -- perhaps at fighting long enough to allow herself to be struck, however minimally. When he drops her, she instinctively springs to the edge with hopes of catching it with the Force just to undermind him -- but there is no chance at that.
She walls him out of her mind when she turns and glares at the pair of them momentarily before her expression is forced calm.]
You "let" me keep it because Anakin didn't want you to have it. And I was mistaken to have doubted his judgement, believing that you might have a chance to change what you've made yourself into. [She says his name firmly, without it sounding like a curse but while accenting it enough to make it clear that she isn't going to speak of him as some strange idea, but as a person.] Last thing anyone in this galaxy needs is for you to disrespect his memory any further than you already have.
[With that, she turns to leave, intent on retrieving what he'd thrown away.]
