As from the calendar:

Confetti! It's a parade! The annual Arista Parade, to be precise. Nominally a part of Aristana, the celebration of the ribbons of life, it's a holiday who's origins are nearly forgotten. Nowadays it's a big, raucous celebration pretty dedicated much entirely to drinking and partying. Almost all those in attendance will be wearing ribbons tied around their hair, their wrists, off of their belts and the edges of their sleeves. Pull one off, and you will be rewarded with a kiss - on the cheek, usually. The parade itself showcases a number of performers, costumes, and moving art pieces. It's route covers a number of the main streets of town (which will be closed, sorry traffic), and it lasts from dusk till nearly dawn on DAY :040. Have fun, if it's your kind of scene.

No notable NPCs are present at the parade - at least not in any official capacity. However if anyone wants to interact with a Concordian native, feel free to make up/interact with any randos you feel like!

[Insulted is better than defensive. It lends creditability to Sam's words, and Bruce is inclined to believe him even before he makes the addendum.]

I've been busy. [Sure, he won't deny that much. But despite appearances, it wasn't as fun as it had seemed; in the end it amounted to a wasted night.] But unlike you, I'm not going to make my way back to the Bearings in a dull haze.

I dunno, I think you're pretty good at dull sometimes.

[What, are you Mara now, with your insults? Bruce looks unimpressed.]

I think some of the people here would be disinclined to agree with you.

[ The killjoy is definitely the base personality here. Now he's sure. ]

[Duality is a tricky thing, but Sam isn't really too far off the mark.]

It's the only side they have any business knowing.

[But he isn't really trying to get you down, Sam.]

You looked like you were enjoying yourself, at least. [Because he was observant enough to catch glances of him on occasion, through the crowd. He didn't find it appropriate at the time to approach the boy, given his little entourage at the time.]

Bruce might've seen him kiss a girl -

(He's aware that Bruce isn't the type to care, but the principle of the thing is still embarrassing?) ]

[He's right, Bruce isn't the type to care -- or at least, to not think anything of it. Sam kissing a girl is hardly on his current list of Things to Be Concerned About.

But the teen is also transparent, and it's difficult for even a man like Bruce not to make some kind of small comment.]

We happened to cross paths a couple of times. [You know, when Bruce had a lady on each arm, practically.] I noticed. Is that a crime?

Bet your harem loved that.

[ Instead of him, you know, paying attention to them. ]

[He actually scoffs, just the tiniest bit. A wry tone underlines his words, though you can tell he isn't at all broken up about it.]

I don't even think they noticed. Besides, out of sight, out of mind. They've forgotten all about me.

[Where there was a "harem" before, there's just Bruce now.]

[ Look, it's not like he has experience in being an object of random strangers' adoration. ]

It's a giant party masquerading as a parade. [Well, more like they're really one and the same.] Most of them will be too drunk to remember the majority of this the next day. And that's fine; being memorable is the last thing any of us need right now.

Well, that's easy enough.

[Sam, are you moping?]

You say that like you weren't having fun out there.

[ He awkwardly shifts his weight from one foot to the other. Somehow, this feels more awkward than it would be to hear this kind of thing from his own mother, which probably has something to do with the fact that his mother never had a window straight into his mind to get every embarrassing thought about Girls, How Do I Even. ]

It was okay.

[ He's understating it a little. Nonetheless, he's perfectly honest in saying - ] Would've been better without everyone wandering around drunk.
