WHERE: The streets of Concordia

SUMMARY: IT'S A PARADE

As from the calendar:
Confetti! It's a parade! The annual Arista Parade, to be precise. Nominally a part of Aristana, the celebration of the ribbons of life, it's a holiday who's origins are nearly forgotten. Nowadays it's a big, raucous celebration pretty dedicated much entirely to drinking and partying. Almost all those in attendance will be wearing ribbons tied around their hair, their wrists, off of their belts and the edges of their sleeves. Pull one off, and you will be rewarded with a kiss - on the cheek, usually. The parade itself showcases a number of performers, costumes, and moving art pieces. It's route covers a number of the main streets of town (which will be closed, sorry traffic), and it lasts from dusk till nearly dawn on DAY :040. Have fun, if it's your kind of scene.
From the mods:
No notable NPCs are present at the parade - at least not in any official capacity. However if anyone wants to interact with a Concordian native, feel free to make up/interact with any randos you feel like!
Feel free to use this log for all of your parade day activities!

I don't know. I kinda just want it all over with.

[ She's been getting that feeling the last couple days. Gnawing away at her. ]

[ He frowns. Putting words to feelings is kind of hard sometimes. On the bright side, Pidge is in his brood, so he doesn't entirely have to - some of the intent will come across even if he can't figure out how to say it right. ]
The part about why we're here in the first place - I still don't know what to think about that. I mean, helping people is a no-brainer, that's what superheroes are supposed to do. But I don't know about like...changing the way their whole culture is going. That feels kind of weird, even if I think the anti-synth stuff is totally stupid.
But then there was that bombing. And that's like - that's the kind of thing I know we can stop. And should stop.

[ She grimaces. Not that she can talk a lot, considering she's blown up a few Galra ships. Woops. ]
But I get what you're saying. Why is it our job to change how a whole society thinks? Even if I think they're wrong, shouldn't they figure that out for themselves? If they just do it because of us, what stops them from going back, later?

If it were home I wouldn't feel so weird jumping into things. I'm a Nova. People expect that. Most of them welcome it - I mean, there are always people who don't, but there's people anywhere who hate cops, so whatever. But here...we're just some strangers who wandered in and are trying to change everything.

[ Pidge sighs. ]
This mission is stupid.

[ He frowns. ]
I don't like what they're doing here, but Sam [ Anders, the unspoken connection makes clear ] and I were talking about it a while back and...it might be there's nothing that'll get things straight but stay clean. They might be headed for a war. We might be pushing them there faster.
And that...I don't know. What if we're just making everything worse?

[ But it makes a weird sort of sense. Sort of. They're trying to push this society to change, even if there are only a handful of them. No matter where you are, someone isn't going to like things being different and if enough of them don't like it, there's conflict. And conflict can blow up very quickly. ]
I don't want to make things worse for these people. Most of them just want to live their lives... And if we somehow start a war...
[ She groans and rubs her forehead. ]
Or what if it starts after we leave? How are we supposed to deal with that? How are we supposed to be responsible for changing an entire planet?

[ The mental image of Skaarn comes up to the surface of his thoughts, of saving what he thought was a stranded ship full of decent people and realizing he'd actually bailed out an infamous slaver. ]
- if you can actually see wrong stuff coming, how much worse can that get?
no subject
[ She breaths out slowly and glances over at Sam with a shrug. ]
I guess we just do our best. And try to help people. That's what we're supposed to do right?
no subject
[ Sigh. ]
So! Catching bombers! At least I know that's gonna help more than it hurts.
no subject
[ Subject change is good. ]
I just wish we had more than theories to go on.
[ Breathe in, out. Feels like they're going in circles sometimes. ]
Somehow I thought being a space paladin wouldn't involve as much running in circles.

[ He'd made some progress, sure. Or he'd thought he had, and then wound up right back at square one with nothing but an extra layer of frustration to show for it. ]
no subject
[ Pidge shakes her head. ]
You know what? I'm going to stop thinking about that. Because it's not helping me get anywhere.
no subject
[ Not that not thinking about something is...all that easy, most of the time, but it's at least worth making the effort. ]
