[Mental sniffing it is, then.

It takes longer than it would have if Annie had been slightly more helpful but eventually he finds her outside the rec area--it's lucky she was so close. He can't stop his eyebrows from shooting toward the ceiling as he approaches her.]

[ Like tectonic plates smashing together, the two edges of where once a portal was in her body have fused closed in a ragged mess. It looks like a wound someone shouldn't have survived. Now it's leaking essentially lime jello. ]

[ She hooks one finger into the edge of her shirt, pulling it down to look him look. She is really shamelessly uncaring of who looks at her chest. There was once a portal there, through which tentacled appendages would stick out. They disrupted her shirt, all the time. Maybe she used to wear some electrical tape just to keep the girls from getting chilly, but now that the portal is sealed shut... what does she care? ]

[He can't stop himself from stepping back in shock at the image. The fact that she's showing him her chest isn't even relevant. That... doesn't look healthy, strange goo aside.]

[Well, sort of. And obviously she does, or she'd be reacting much the same as he is. But it's all he can think of to say, and it's also kind of rude of her not to warn him.]
