mental link; it's a catbus!
[ It's an ungodly hour of the night as these things go, with both Misato and Gildor's minds flickering to announce their presence to all. Forceful and unapologetic, for her part, while urgent and unsettling, for his part. They insist on your attention. ]
( Everyone. We found something out there beyond the barrier. It was too dark for us to see much-- )
(Or anything, for some of us, but-- )
( But it's massive-- )
(Big as the shuttles that brought us-- )
( And predatory. At least, it seemed pretty clear that it wanted to take a chunk out of us. Some of you found tracks the other day, right? Let's talk. )

( If it isn't about strings or stringed instruments, it's not a very well named theory then is it? )

( That's getting more into the lore I mentioned. It is believed the gods spoke the entire universe into existence, and their primordial words of creation still reverberate and expand through the cosmos. Bards harness those echoes using music and convert it into magic, or we attempt to.
I'd be happy to recount the story in full for you both another time so you can compare it to this... theory... )
[ At a more reasonable hour than this. ]

[ The fact that they remain adherents to the force of gravity, for one, or even that they use such identical frequencies with which to speak to each other, not to mention how Gildor's power still works. There are more uncanny similarities than differences. The dimension contained in Leliel, she thinks, must be far more alien than the homes each of them hail from. ]
( Look, what I'm saying is, you can tell myths or figure out mathematical formulae and still be talking about the same thing. One in metaphors, the other in numbers. The origin of the world, right? Reverberate and expand are the words we use for our version too. )

[ He's tired, stressed, and much more prone to short nerves than usual. At the very least he's aware of it, and almost too aware of the awkward silence that follows. Even his mental music has stopped. ]
( I don't expect either of you to believe me or share in my beliefs, but please try to have a little respect for them. )

( I'll tell you about the theory later. When we're not all half awake. )

But honestly, I'm more inclined to listen to Gildor. The string theory is just that, a theory. His door actually got us through to the other side. )

[ He's practically begging, since he doesn't want to continue being so defensive about his magic or religion. He isn't normally so touchy about the latter - it's not as if he's a paladin. ]
( I will explain anything asked of me as the truth I know it do be. But for now, as impossible as it may be knowing what's just beyond that barrier, I'd like to at least try to rest... )
