[ Sex? Sex is disgusting, as far as Asuka is concerned. Invasive and intimate and not something she's actually all that interested in. Far from necessary, except maybe in some distant, abstract idea of moving into that mystical idea of adulthood. She pulls a face and settles her chin on her hands. ]

Everything. It's not like I need some asshole pawing at me or treating me like some kind of jerk-off fantasy. I've had enough of that, thanks.

[ No part of that sounds familiar to Annie, maybe because if anyone had pawed at others and treated them like toys it had been her. So maybe that's a lie, it does sound familiar. It sounds like Felice. Annie's nose wrinkles slightly. Maybe it was no surprise that so many people she'd mistreated had ended up under Therese's wing in the end. ]

Yeah, nobody needs that. You might meet someone who isn't a scumbag eventually. They're out there.

[ Her broodmate is the purest soul she's ever met in her entire life, so... She's pretty sure they exist even if she can't count herself among the non-scumbags. ]

[ Asuka maintains this with a startling amount of conviction. Who needs or wants a relationship? Or sex? Or any of that stuff? Not her. Not now. ]

[ Sorry, Annie. She's got an opinion on this one. ]

It's not something that gets done to you.

[ Or shouldn't be. Annie isn't really arguing the point too hard, Asuka's obviously had some shitty experiences that she shouldn't have had at her age, but then again-- That's generally what she and Annie talk about. The shitty things they shouldn't have had to deal with as children. ]

You're supposed to do it together.

[ Supposed to. Annie's not going to pretend she's never done it to someone, but... well. That was in her shitty drugged up youth. These days she likes healthier engagements. If she's grown up in any way, it's maybe that. Fully consenting, un-coerced sex was a better deal. ]

Yeah, well, maybe I don't want to do it with anyone either.

[ Asuka's actually feeling relatively comfortable around Annie. For all of her crudeness, Annie seems to get part of what makes Asuka tick. Where she's coming from. And she can appreciate that and even crave more of the same contact. She doesn't want to think about her experiences with the opposite sex, though, even if the conversation brings them to mind.

She continues, rather glum. ]

I tried kissing a boy and he didn't even respond. He just stood there like a plank of wood or something. Like he didn't even want me.

[ She doesn't much care about Shinji. It was more the rejection that stung. ]

[ Ugh. That's... all very... Unfortunate. Annie closes her eyes. ]

So what if he didn't?

[ Asuka snaps, feeling irritable. Why doesn't Annie get this? ]

I wasn't good enough for him, apparently!

Or he wasn't good enough for you.

[ Annie knows what that looks like, that urge to feel validated through desire. She'd watched other girls destroy themselves doing it, had helped destroy a few girls through it. In the periphery of her mind all she can think about is Felice -- crying, wanting, lost. ]

Or maybe it doesn't have anything to do with being good at all.

He wasn't.

[ Asuka agrees with that. But the rejection hurts all the same. It always does, even if she pretends not to care. Even if she would rather spend her time with literally anyone else. ]

What do you mean? Doesn't have anything to do with being good?

People are fucked up, Asuka.

[ Maybe she should just leave it at that, but she can't imagine that satisfying the girl. She was stubborn like that. ]

Assuming 'good enough' means pretty, smart, whatever -- he could've put out and thought you were dirt. You did it first, kissing him wasn't about him at all, you know he's a scrub. So maybe not kissing back had nothing to do with you too.

[ Asuka frowns, but she doesn't have a ready retort for that. Instead she sinks lower in the water with something like a scoff. She doesn't believe that! But she sort of does, because she hadn't thought about it like that before.

Hmmph. ]
