[ A few hours after the murder, she hasn't blown the ship up, and here they are. Another knock knock on everyone's brain: ]

( You know, I never asked– military? Special ops? )

[ At this point it hardly matters in terms of ranking and all. But it's useful to know in a broad sense. What kind of training is present. Sam already gave him an idea of it when they first spoke on the lovely topic of death. He wants to know more, naturally. Knowing Sam can handle death and being around it is an odd comfort, though that's not the whole picture. ]

( You'd know if it wasn't. ) [ November doesn't return the laugh, though he does smile, the expression a little warmer than usual. ]

( I’ll keep that in mind. ) [ Sam’s clearly teasing, but there’s some genuine-ness there as well. It’s good to know, really.

Likewise, he doesn’t hesitate before answering November’s question. It might not matter anymore, but it’s always good to know what kind of background and skills you’re working with when you’re ostensibly on a team. ]

( Both. I was pararescue, and then I was tapped for a special ops unit using experimental tech. Infiltration and extraction, mostly. How ‘bout you? )

( Pararescue– is that the cause of the feeling of wings and feathers? )

[ That feeling of flight and weightlessness. The occasional cloud cover that's there before Sam pulls them back and lets the sky show through. ]

( That's quite the resume though. Sounds like the military was lucky to have you. )

[ He doesn't know it but the US military was #blessed by Sam Wilson. ]

( My roots are in secret service– MI6 specifically. I may not have a heart any longer, but it is quite hard to shake loyalty to ones Queen. )

[ Sam hums an agreement in response, a mental impression of yeah, something like that coming across before he catches himself, and remembers he doesn’t have to stick with vague, mostly truths anymore. ]

( Part, yeah. I got an actual set of wings, too - the military’s, technically, but I’m the only one around who can use ‘em worth a damn. ) [ That and Sam may have stolen them once or twice, but as far as he’s concerned they’re his. He huffs out a little chuckle. ] ( Not sure they always saw it like that, but damn right they were. )

[ Before coming here - hell, before joining the Avengers - he’d have probably assumed that was a metaphor and not even blinked, but now he’s curious. ]

( When you say you don’t have a heart - you mean in the usual ‘I’m a spysassin’ way or literally? )
