[ Sam's... not normally one to use the mental link to talk to the Nest in general; he still prefers in person most of the time. But the only other option he can think of for something like this is to stick up flyers, so mental link it is. With his widened connection comes the feeling of feathers and a distance rush of wind. ]

( For those of you who don't know me - I'm Sam. I'm one of the people you can find spending half the day in the training hall. I know a lot of us have got our own training routine, but I'm looking to step outside mine a little.

Guess you could call this an interest check, see who'd be up for doing some training in working together. I know everyone ain't into the team thing and I'm not asking you to be, if you don't want to. Just looking for the willing. We're all doing missions together, it'd be nice to have some practice seeing how our skills can compliment each other.

Not gonna drop my resume on people who ain't interested, but I'll answer any questions you want about my experience. Or you can find me in the training hall every morning. )

( What, they don't got voluntold where you're from? Just wait until we bring out mandatory fun. )

[ The knowledge of some phrases bleeds out without Sam really being aware of it, but, well. One of the side effects of the strength of his connection with Shiro. ]

(I... no. No, we don't. Not like that, anyway.)

[A pause. Wondering if he meant to send those snippets of words along or not. Erring on the side of intentional. It's less unnerving.]

(Some of the others sound... more familiar. We weren't really that military.)

[ No. No, it wasn't intentional, and at first Sam isn't sure what Shiro means. It isn't until he can feel that Shiro knows what Sam was talking about that he figures it out.

And. Carefully focuses his attention on just his connection with Shiro. ]

( It happens sometimes, being able to pick up more information. It's why I can curse in Russian and Japanese and probably a few others. )

[He's ... quiet, then. Not sure how to answer that. It's no secret or surprise that Sam is more connected to everything than he is. With the exception of a few specific people, he's done everything possible to keep the world out.]

(... are you okay?)

[Not judging the slip, not judging anything here. Only concern.]

[ And then it's Sam's turn to fall quiet, trying to figure out how to respond to that.

Sam's fine, more or less. He thinks of it like an information share, and he's chosen every connection that he's got that strong enough that it happens with. If he doesn't know the full extent of it, if maybe that's just what he's telling himself - well, it's not on a conscious level.

But that question makes it clear that Shiro... doesn't really know that his own connection has been getting stronger. ]

( I don't think that was me, sweetheart. It's a two way street, you and me, means we both pick up more things than we might otherwise. )

(What? I mean -- I know we're connected. We have been for a long time, but ... Why would I pull that out of your head?)

[Why would he do something invasive without permission? He wouldn't. He couldn't.]

[... did he?]

( You didn't. It's just easier for you to get things from me, same as it's easier for me to get things from you. It's not... pulling, it's just that there's more within easy reach. )

[ Or at least, that's how Sam's looking at it. ]

(I'm sorry. I had no idea it was even happening...)

[It was something simple, though, so, in the end, it's not really a big deal. Right? And not something painful. Some memory better left buried.]

(So... it goes without saying, if I cross some line, without meaning to, you'll tell me. Right?)

( I don't mind; I knew getting closer wasn't gonna come without, you know. Our connection getting stronger. This is how I'm choosing to deal with it. )

[ The symbiote, he means. It ain't like it's going anywhere, but at least he can choose who he lets it open him up to. ]

( Anything that might be a line is buried pretty deep, I ain't that worried. You okay? )

(This doesn't come without a side effect. Right?)

[Because that just figures. There's never anything good without some drawbacks. Are there?]

(If you're not worried, I'm not worried.)

[Makes sense right?]

( You mean aside from stuff bleeding over? I don't know, man, dunno if anyone really does. )

[ Except maybe Cathaway or Prince, but they've been a part of the Nest so long Sam's not sure they'd have the same view of side effects as them. ]

( Does that mean I should let you know if I do start getting worried? )

(It'd be nice to get a manual on these things. Or even a head's up.)

[Because this is one more thing in a long list of things no one explained very well. Thanks, Life.]
