mental link; day 49/50ish

[ Sam's... not normally one to use the mental link to talk to the Nest in general; he still prefers in person most of the time. But the only other option he can think of for something like this is to stick up flyers, so mental link it is. With his widened connection comes the feeling of feathers and a distance rush of wind. ]

( For those of you who don't know me - I'm Sam. I'm one of the people you can find spending half the day in the training hall. I know a lot of us have got our own training routine, but I'm looking to step outside mine a little.

Guess you could call this an interest check, see who'd be up for doing some training in working together. I know everyone ain't into the team thing and I'm not asking you to be, if you don't want to. Just looking for the willing. We're all doing missions together, it'd be nice to have some practice seeing how our skills can compliment each other.

Not gonna drop my resume on people who ain't interested, but I'll answer any questions you want about my experience. Or you can find me in the training hall every morning. )

[ A touch of warmth trickles across their link, along with the sensation of fathers rustling in amusement. ]

( Nah, we can still throw each other down as much as your moody little guy'll let you. Though you know, sometime we could try teaming up to kick someone else's ass. )

( I can try to pry him off on Noctis. )

[ Or the alternative, which is wait for this phase to be over. Though he's trying not to admit it, Bellamy's as apprehensive about what comes next as Noctis is. ]

( Are you implying we jump Clint when he's least expecting it? )

( There anyone else he's willing to put up with? )

[ Honestly, Sam is, too. He'd taken his own turn with babysitting the egg, and in retrospect he probably should have bit a little more cautious about what might come out. ]

( Of course not. ) [ Sound more believable Sam. ] ( Maybe a little. I wasn't before, but now I kinda like it. )

( Looks like it'll tolerate a couple other people. But I don't blame anyone for not wanting to take a turn. )

[ Bellamy's got black stains all up one arm, and several ruined shirts to reward him for being such a good resting place. ]

( In that case, the question is probably whether we can manage to sneak up on him, or if he'll sense us coming. )

[ or just Bellamy. dumb brood bond. ]

( I can take a try, if you need a break some time. )

[ He'll just. Make sure he's wearing one of those Station pajama shirts. And then there's another curl of amusement. Yeah, good point.

It's not like he and Clint ever really close their connection with each other, anyway - the only reason he hasn't picked up on this is probably that he's distracted. ]

( I'm pretty sure he'll notice something's up if I even hint at starting to try to shield from him. Maybe if we hum song lyrics on repeat or something he'll tune out. )

( Or maybe we enlist a distraction. )

[ There had to be someone loud enough in the Nest to get the job done. Someone new, maybe. There were some fresh from their pods that still projected all their thoughts outward, and Bellamy knew what would catch Clint's attention. ]

( Now you're talking. You got anyone in mind? )

[ If they're lucky, Clint might think he's closing off just to avoid the feedback of whoever's distracting him - it'd worked keeping his Christmas present a secret, anyway, though that was a little less passive than a sneak attack. ]

( Someone loud. Maybe someone who just woke up. )

[ It'll look more natural that way, Bellamy reasons. ]

( Or maybe Petre will help us. )

( Hikaru, maybe, he hasn't bothered to figure out how to be quiet. )

[ Neither has Asuka, of their newest Hosts - but Sam'd rather not involve her. There's a faint note of surprise when Bellamy brings up Petre, though. He's one of the few older Hosts that Sam hasn't talked to much, especially after Angel fell asleep. ]

( I'd say he's pretty damn loud. You think he'd help? )
