mental link; day 49/50ish

[ Sam's... not normally one to use the mental link to talk to the Nest in general; he still prefers in person most of the time. But the only other option he can think of for something like this is to stick up flyers, so mental link it is. With his widened connection comes the feeling of feathers and a distance rush of wind. ]

( For those of you who don't know me - I'm Sam. I'm one of the people you can find spending half the day in the training hall. I know a lot of us have got our own training routine, but I'm looking to step outside mine a little.

Guess you could call this an interest check, see who'd be up for doing some training in working together. I know everyone ain't into the team thing and I'm not asking you to be, if you don't want to. Just looking for the willing. We're all doing missions together, it'd be nice to have some practice seeing how our skills can compliment each other.

Not gonna drop my resume on people who ain't interested, but I'll answer any questions you want about my experience. Or you can find me in the training hall every morning. )

( Wow. So you know what's gonna happen before it happens? Say, if a piano were to fall on your head, you'd know to look up sort of thing? )

( Yeah, that's what you'd think, right? But I don't get to see anything, I just know what I have to do. Piano's falling, my bug starts telling me to take four steps right. That's it. )

( Intuition's not a bad thing. You just know what you to do even if you can't explain it to someone else. But they'll know you're right before it's all over. )

[ Tooting her own horn, etc. ]

( Somehow I don't think the I told you so will feel that great if they're dead. )

( Oh yeah, don't do that, it's not very nice . . . The rest should listen to you now that they know, right? )

( I don't know who knows. )

[Which is less thinking about how word might travel, and more about how sometimes in the Nest you just know things. All he can say for sure is who he's told, and who he hasn't.]

( I'm not really into the whole "stand up and tell everyone your secret skills" thing that's been going around. )

( Why not? Scared you'll be volunteered for things you don't want? )

( If I was scared, do you think I'd be telling you? )

[ There's a chuckle, or the idea of it. Doesn't he know? Evasive action only invites pursuit. ]

( You tell me. If you insist that you're not, I might think you are. )

[This is the mental sensation of a teenager being very, very unimpressed with you right now, Misato.]

( Yeah, the answer's actually that I wouldn't tell you, because I'm not stupid. )

( My, you're prickly for someone so cute. Fine then. Still up for helping me figure this out? )

[There's a low frizzle of something close to confusion, but it's brief, pushed aside. He doesn't get called cute often, but for the exact same reason, he's not going to get stuck on it.]

( Sure, if you think you can put up with prickly. )
