[ Hello everyone, here's a gentle knock or nudge on your mental doors. It's as polite and crisp as the person behind it– Hux is never one to overlook formalities, regardless of the fact that everyone is linked in the brain. So once he's relatively certain he has most people's attention, he'll get more to the point. ]
( If I have interrupted your activities, I do apologize. However, I have something I would like to pass across to the rest of you should it be of interest.
Considering the growth of the Nest that we've experienced, it may benefit us to begin coordinating efforts and communication on a larger scale.
I realize this may seem redundant when taking the mindlink into account, but for those who are newer or those who do not have as much of a handle on their newfound powers, it could be helpful. Moreover, the progress we've made collectively on this mission could be pushed with more cohesive organization. )
[ Does it sound like he's practiced this? He probably has. Anyone who might be familiar with him would recognize the speechifying. ]
( All in all, I believe this group is rather talented and driven, just lacking on the communication aspect. If you've input on any of these points, I would be glad to hear them. )
[ ooc: Hux is essentially seeing if people want to share power descriptions so it makes it easier for other characters to tap people for missions! This is completely optional. He'll also be making notes and probably being nosy I mean checking in on broods re: temperature checks. Feel free to volunteer if you want dad Hux to bother your character about their feelings about the nest : ) ]

Do not tell me that I care little for the people in the nest when you've not even been here for two full weeks. )
this is the closest and safest thing I could find to Aoba popcorning at this

( You're not even trying to deny it, are you? How dare you compare the lives of soldiers, of an army you built, to the innocent and defenseless people of an ENTIRE SYSTEM!
You destroyed an entire system to make a political statement, and you're trying to JUSTIFY IT? )

( What would denying it get me? The decision was made all the same.
The people I spoke of are not just a military body. I wanted what was best for those living in the wholly ignored Outer Rim. The Republic had chance after chance to correct their course and help those whose lives they broke when the Empire fell. Instead, they elected to sit on their hands, spouting about peace when they could hardly follow through with putting a clean end to the first war. )

[There's a rush of disbelief, like some part of her still wanted to believe that someone was lying, that there was a misunderstanding, that one person could not be so heartless as to cut down an entire star system. Not even Dooku or Grievous had reached such levels of cruelty and callousness.
That understanding reaches across them, and suddenly, she hates him so purely. There's another, much darker thought -- he is an enemy to peace, a murderer, a war-criminal and he deserves the same fate of all of those he senselessly cut down.
This time, she doesn't bother to squash it.]
( You're a monster. I never should have trusted you. )

[ If a forest burns to the ground, a fresh growth can spring up and take root. It can start anew; stronger. This is what he's believed his whole life, there's no way for it to be incorrect. Not when his father had told him this was the way to do things. Not when he'd been so invested in the well being of his crew, of the people in the Outer Rim. So they could have a life that didn't just lead into crime or premature death.
Yet, Ahsoka's emotions reach across their connection with ease. Like blaster fire– a strike and residual burns. It settles on him like a cloak and he bends to it, just a little, feeling like he doesn't have enough air.
Why can't she understand?
(Why does her hatred sting so much?) ]

[Her own anger pulses so hard in her head that it crackles through her blood. The Clone Wars were over, Rey had said. The Jedi had lost themselves, something had taken its place, and nothing had changed. Everything she'd fought for, every clone that died over those two years -- so many lives wasted at the hands of government with no one to stand for them.
That was what the Jedi were meant to stand for. And instead, they'd all been pawns to be used and discarded. The First Order was a blight, and as far as she can see, Hux is one of its main conductors.
She had comforted Kylo Ren, another agent of this murderous Order. What did that make her?]
( Your entire ideology is poison. YOU are poison. And if you try and spread it, be prepared to go through me. )

This time, that anger is directed to a fine point and he just feels burnt out by it. The shock of being turned on so suddenly leaves him reeling.
There's nothing he can say that won't make this worse than it is already. Nothing, he knows, that Ahsoka will accept.
(An apology, perhaps, but he doesn't feel regret for what he's done. It was necessary, he tells himself.)
So he says nothing in return, just quietly walls their connection, shutting out the burning anger. ]

( You cannot expect me to believe you care about -anyone- in the Nest, when you could so carelessly and callously destroy innocent lives so easily! )

But this, about those in the Nest. She doesn't realize– they're all too connected. Not caring about them would be akin to taking his own limb off. Not only is it functionally idiotic, but he personally has no desire to push them away. For all that he hated being mentally connected to everyone at first, he's grown used to it. And much to his surprise, he's gotten attached to some of the people here. That attachment, something he would normally view as weak, gives him reason to make sure they all do well.
So for a moment after Rey's attack, there's a resounding mental silence like he's been struck. Shock radiates until he can put a cap on it. ]
( I would not expect you to believe anything I said. Regardless, I will not see this Nest divided or destroyed just because you think I'm incapable of caring. )

Rey can only know what she'd seen — the weapon charging again, ready to annihilate the Resistance. ]
( I don't think you incapable of caring. You apparently care very much about murdering innocents. )
