(backdated) day: 37

[ Hello everyone, here's a gentle knock or nudge on your mental doors. It's as polite and crisp as the person behind it– Hux is never one to overlook formalities, regardless of the fact that everyone is linked in the brain. So once he's relatively certain he has most people's attention, he'll get more to the point. ]

( If I have interrupted your activities, I do apologize. However, I have something I would like to pass across to the rest of you should it be of interest.

Considering the growth of the Nest that we've experienced, it may benefit us to begin coordinating efforts and communication on a larger scale.

I realize this may seem redundant when taking the mindlink into account, but for those who are newer or those who do not have as much of a handle on their newfound powers, it could be helpful. Moreover, the progress we've made collectively on this mission could be pushed with more cohesive organization.
)

[ Does it sound like he's practiced this? He probably has. Anyone who might be familiar with him would recognize the speechifying. ]

( All in all, I believe this group is rather talented and driven, just lacking on the communication aspect. If you've input on any of these points, I would be glad to hear them. )

[ ooc: Hux is essentially seeing if people want to share power descriptions so it makes it easier for other characters to tap people for missions! This is completely optional. He'll also be making notes and probably being nosy I mean checking in on broods re: temperature checks. Feel free to volunteer if you want dad Hux to bother your character about their feelings about the nest : ) ]

[Rather than sharing publicly, her response is private—if only because she's been working on this since their conversation a while ago, albeit on a lesser scale. Given how certain individuals (read: Mara and Ilde) have responded to being directed, she is less than encouraged by some of her results.

Just the same—]

( I've begun the work on this myself, so it may benefit us to compare notes. )

[In truth, "begun the work" is an understatement, which he can undoubtedly tell in the bond between them.

But she's been troubled by other matters and avoiding them. Which ... is probably not an unfamiliar thing to recognize all in all.]

So, if I'm understanding you correctly, you'd like us to... get to know each other better?

[ Hopefully that's what Hux's fancy lingo means. Aoba has to agree - they've been pretty disjointed with so many hosts coming and going, himself included. This mission has already taken much longer than their last one, which was... also a mess. And they've lost a host in each. He's mentioned his abilities to a few hosts, but laying everything out on the table is bound to do some collective good. ]

(What do you mean by 'powers'?)

(I'm assuming this is more than just talking to each others' brains.)
snaphiss: but i can be for a small fee (i'm not happy about this)

( More coordinated than instantaneous psychic communication? )

[Gentle teasing, almost fond.]

( You're not wrong, ) [ though bellamy's still distinctly uncomfortable with anything that registers as oversharing, there's no denying this will be useful going forward. ] ( What's your plan for helping people get a better handle on their powers, if they need it? )

[ Like Bellamy does........ ]

( I never would have pegged you for an optimist. )

( Some people can't follow orders to save their lives. Your goal is ambitious, but it might be best to limit your reach. )

( Running a crew of thirty becomes unaccountably more difficult when you can't relieve anyone of duty. Say what you will about some officer's methods, ) [vader] ( but they at least thinned the ranks. ) [vader]

( It's a worthwhile goal all the same. I wonder if you can manage it without all of us melting into a group of husks. )

( Yes, you don't seem like the strangling type. )

[It's hard to think of this man as some First Order and not the Empire she lost and left. With that, Mara realizes Hux could have never met Vader. Lucky man. But he probably won't get the reference that would have been obvious to anyone high ranking in the Imperial Fleet, then, will he?]

[She wonders how much Jacen is like his grandfather.]

( You can thank me all you like. Or be helpful and tell me what you're planning. )

Um... alright. Well, you already know I'm better with tech than anything else, but... not as good as most everyone else here.

[ Considering what incredible tech geniuses some of the other hosts are, he hardly feels like he can contribute his skills in a meaningful way. But his psychic skills, as weird and destructive as they are, might be more useful to put out there. ]

As for abilities, I can influence and control people with the sound of my voice, emotionally and physically. I can also insert my consciousness into another person's mind.

When I do that, it's... kind of like entering another world that's all about that person. I can see their memories, their fears, pretty much everything. And I can destroy parts of their mind.

Or... all of it.

[ A beat. His frequency hums nervously. ]

I-I should mention, I haven't used it on anyone here! I only know about it because I've had this power my whole life, though I haven't always been aware of it. The symbiote just... gave me some more control over it. I think.

( I believe there should be a core to our communications. Those who others can look to for details and further information.

There are some of us who are more adept at handling the weight of many minds and opinions at once.
)

[ his tone is amiable; it's a suggestion, not a demand. some of the other hosts are simply not as good at keeping up with the hivedashians. ]

( Perhaps appointing them a measure of responsibility would be advisable. )

( I never thought I'd see the day when an Imperial sympathizer argued for transparency. )

[But she can't hide the haze of approval that shades over the idea.]

( What do you suggest telling them? )

[ big brothers big sisters: station 72 edition. ]

( Volunteers, of course. ) [ mental handwave-y gesture.

it comes down to semantics in the end: volunteers vs. assignments - whomever feels up to the task ought to be encouraged to partake. nobody within the hive seems to take well to old leaders and commanders and generals taking up their reins and telling them where to go and what to do. suggestions and requests for mutual input is more apropos nowadays. ]

( I believe yourself and Commander Lexa should be on that list. There are others, of course, but you two are proven.

As for volunteering, in general - I am an old hand at training others for combat.

( The Empire existed to ensure no one was ever bitten. )

[Heavy with the irony, there.]

( A light touch is clever, but slow going. Are you willing to wait around for it? )

( This First Order of yours sounds more and more unlike the Empire I knew. An Imperial Officer of your rank would have focused on getting results as quickly and harshly as possible. )

[An odd thought, to be sure.]

( But your strategy suits the Nest far better. )
